BIOGRAPHY
MALLADI BROTHERS:Malladi Brothers Sreeram Prasad and Ravikumar, were born with a legacy and rich
tradition accrued through their grand father Late Malladi Srirama Murthy and through their father a great Harikatha
exponent of his time in Andhra Pradesh. Both the brothers received musical training from their father- vocalist,
Malladi Suri Babu, himself a disciple of the great Late Voleti Venkateswarulu. Malladi brothers were further trained
by vocal Maestro Nedunuri Krishnamurthy.
Malladi brothers possess a large repertoire of carnatic musical compositions and possess a vibrant and powerful
voice. The brothers have been the most sought after young maestros. They have traveled in the USA and Canada
(2000 and 2002) and have been top-notch performers all over the country. Malladis have several audio publications
to their credit. The Hindu on Dec. 5th 2002 says: "knowing the essence and depth of the Telugu compositions of
Tyagaraja, and hence their rendition of the `krithis' were crisp and lucid, with the `sahitya' never being a casualty, as
it usually is with many artistes." The Hindu, Dec. 28th 2001, says "Spontaneous singing is admittedly a necessary
trait of an artiste, and figured prominently in their independent essays. Practice makes perfect; and perfection is
worth seeking. None of these points appeared to have missed the Malladi Brothers."
Embar Kannan Recognized as a leading violinist of today, Embar Kannan trained under the renowned
Kanyakumari, and has lived up to the expectations of a promising violinist of great potential. His bowing technique
is of high quality, marked by sweetness and clarity. Kannan is the recipient of many awards and honors for both his
solo and his accompanying skills. He is an A grade artist of the All India Radio (AIR) and has played solo concerts
and violin duets with his guru. He has accompanied many leading artists such as T. V. Sankaranarayanan, Trichur
Ramachandran, T. N. Seshagoplann, Sudha Raghunathan, Kadri Gopalnath, Unnikrishnan, and Sowmya. He has
also traveled widely and performed in concerts in USA, Europe, and the Far East.
Neyveli Narayanan: Hailing from a family of Music connoisseurs at Neyveli, Narayanan was initiated into the
art of Mridangam playing at the young age of seven, under the guidance of Sri. S.K. Ganesa Pillai. He made his
debut at the age of 11 and ever since, he has been rising in his art by furthering his horizons and making a mark in
the field of Carnatic music. An intensive training under the Maestro Late Thanjavur Sri Upendran brought about a
great amount of professionalism in Narayanan’s playing, in the Tanjavur Bani. Narayanan has performed in all the
leading sabhas in India. He has also won acclaim in other countries like USA, Canada, Australia, Singapore, United
Kingdom, Germany, Dubai, Muscat, Malaysia, Switzerland, New Zealand, Holland and Hong Kong. Narayanan was
given the "Award for Excellence" in 1995 by the Maharajapuram Viswanatha Iyer Trust. "Best Mridangam Player"
award was given in 1995 and 1997-98 by the Music Academy. The Bharat Kalachar gave "Yuva Kala Bharathi"
award in 1997. Thyaga Brahma Gana Sabha (Vani Mahal) gave him the ‘Award for Excellence’ in Mridangam in
1997. Received the "Thanjavur Vaidyanatha Iyer Award" from Raagam Fine Arts in 1999
