Natural Selection Lab Write Up
Introduction:
 Describe Darwin’s theory of natural selection in detail
 Explain how Darwin developed this theory
 Explain the effect of natural selection on variations in organisms
 Explain what a species is and how they evolve (convergent & divergent
evolution)
Hypothesis:
 Carefully read the lab and then write a hypothesis for what you will be
trying to prove in the lab (one sentence)
Materials:
 Write the list of materials used in sentence form
Procedure:
 Write the procedure in paragraph form (no numbering)
Results:
 Draw and complete tables 1 and 2 in your lab notebook
 Include 2 graphs on separate pieces of graph paper for the data in tables
1 and 2 (include title, X and Y labels…)
 Write out and answer questions 1 – 6 from your lab sheet (underline the
questions)
Conclusion:
 Restate the hypothesis
 Using your data, explain your results
 Explain how the number of seeds shows natural selection
