Social Life

How ancient roman gladiators support the social life of ancient Rome.

Even though the Roman’s were a civilization before the birth of Christ, they were arguably the smartest civilization in their time. Their social life included the construction of great buildings, such as the Coliseum. This giant arena would not hold football games o baseball, no, it would hold battles of men who would fight for their lives. These men were known as Gladiators. Gladiators were not if always slaves who were captured in war. They would battle with their unique fighting style of their country against someone who would do the same. This helped instill in the

citizens the understanding of their responsibility as Romans to be the strongest society in the world. The gladiator’s responsibility was to kill the other man, then they live to fight another day. The only reason they were forced o fight though as for entertainment of course and to instill the belief in Roman superiority. That’s how gladiators supported the social life of ancient Rome.

Why I chose this visualization:

I chose this picture because it shows how gladiators would fight unprotected against some of the most heavily guarded men. Also, it shows how the people who where watching used this event as part of their social life.
