Dear Parents:
We have received numerous phone calls from parents and concerned citizens about a
rumor concerning [school name]. This rumor was circulated last week via text message,
email, My Space© and the internet that a student was bringing a gun to [school name]
School on [date]. Law enforcement began an investigation of the rumor on the evening of
[date], and met with school officials on [date] morning. The Kitsap County Sheriff’s
Department conducted an all day investigation with School Administration and the rumor
was found to be unsubstantiated. Kitsap County Deputies maintained a presence at
[school] throughout the day.
This is, of course a huge concern for all of us. The safety of our students is of top priority.
Please share this information so that we can put this rumor to rest. Please continue to talk
with your children about school safety and encourage them to share with adults any
information regarding potentially dangerous situations.
