HLF Your Heritage Grant Workshops
Purpose: These one-day workshops are aimed at helping participants to develop the
core structure of a Your Heritage grant application to the Heritage Lottery Fund
Who Should Attend?
These workshops are designed to help
applicants within the archive sector
who have identified a suitable project
to frame the broad outline of their
project proposal. The total project
costs must be under £100,000 and a
grant request between £5,000 and
£50,000, The workshops will address
the following themes:
 Writing an executive summary
 Describing the need and/or demand
for the project
 Describing the heritage focus
 Demonstrating organisation ability
 Considering project management
 Creating a realistic project timetable
 Completing the budget
 Defining measurable project aims
 The use of evidence to substantiate
claims
 Good presentation
Participants should have a clearly
identified project, official authorisation
to proceed with an application and, at
the least, have identified possible
sources of partnership funding.
At the end of the day-long workshops
participants will have a completed a
large proportion of the application
form and should feel confident about
completing it on their own.

The Archive Lottery Advisory Service is jointly sponsored by the Public
Record Office and the Society of Archivists under the aegis of the National
Council on Archives. The post has been in operation since November 1997 to
support the professional archive community through offices holding records
throughout the UK. The Archive Lottery Adviser is available to consult on
lottery funding related issues. There is no charge to the community for this
