1997 OPEN MEETING OF THE HUMAN DIMENSIONS OF GLOBAL ENVIRONMENTAL CHANGE RESEARCH COMMUNITY IIASA, Laxenburg, Austria June 12-14, 1997 THIRD ANNOUNCEMENT WITH SPECIAL PLENARY SESSIONS Health Attitudes and Behavior Industrial Transformation/Business and Trade Integrated Assessment Environmental Governance Environmental Security The 1997 Open Meeting of the Human Dimensions Research Community will be held at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) in Laxenburg, Austria on June 12-14, 1997. This meeting is a follow-on to the First Open Meeting of the Human Dimensions of Global Environmental Change Community held at Duke University on June 1-3, 1995. It is sponsored by IIASA and the Social Science Research Council (SSRC), with co-sponsorship from Directorate General XII of the European Commission, the European Science Foundation, the International Human Dimensions Programme of Global Environmental Change (IHDP), and the Austrian Ministry for Science and Transport. The purpose of the meeting is to bring together the growing human dimensions research community to promote exchanges of information on current research, teaching and outreach, to encourage networking in this new field, and to attract social scientists, humanists and others not previously involved in human dimensions work. There will be special plenary sessions on leading issues in the human dimensions of global environmental change as stated above, followed by numerous small group sessions.
