for placing taxes on products. The colonists felt that they
should be able to have a voice in the laws and taxes placed
upon them in America.
New Jersey’s Role in the Revolution
New Jersey is often called the Crossroads to the Revolution.
It was important for many reasons:
L-LOCATION- it was the site of over 100 battles, and it was
a perfect spot for the Winter Encampments of 1770
L-LAND- NJ has great flat farm land that was useful for
encampments and crops.
B-Business- NJ had iron mills that were useful in the
production of bullets and canons for the soldiers
The War’s Impact on New Jersey
Due to the many battles that took place on NJ’s land, much of
the land was harmed or destroyed. Also, many farmers had to
give up parts of their land for winter encampments. People
had to welcome officers into their homes, and often had
soldiers harm their properties and steal their crops.
