Kung Fu Panda – Family Movie Night, is this Friday, November 21 from 7:00 to
9:00pm in the Hillside School Upper Gym.

5th grade leaders will meet after school on Friday, November 21.
Diva Lounge–Mom’s Night Out:
Come out and enjoy a night of fun with the girls at the Diva Lounge in Montclair, NJ on
Tuesday, November 25 from 7:30pm-10:00pm. There will be drinks, sushi bar, and
appetizers, plus a DJ, Tarot Card Reader, and Belly Dancing. Advance reservations required.

Many thanks to Christine Bullion and Willie Pauwels for providing excellent child care during
the November PTA meeting. Balloon animals and basketball were a couple of the nights’
favorite activities.
Thank you to Mrs. Pilchman for hosting our coffee and conversation and thank you to Nurse
Mary and Mrs. Kautz, Hillside’s reading specialist, for coming as well. Speaking with all of you
was very informative. We appreciate the time you took to answer our questions. Thank you to
Christine Bullion for bringing the coffee and munchkins.
Many thanks to Patricia Murphy-Lobosco for doing a fantastic job organizing our successful
Barnes and Noble Book Fair. Thank you to Karen Gelenites, Karen Wood, Dana Levine,
Rose DeNegris, Michelle Allen, Lori Kudish, Judy Hui, Melissa Greenblatt and Caitlin
Lobosco for helping that night as well. Thank you to our Hillside teachers for the very
entertaining read alouds. And finally, a huge thank you to our Hillside families for coming out
and purchasing books. It was a fun and educational night.

Holiday Gift Shop:
Save the Date – Tuesday, December 9 we will be holding our annual Holiday Gift Shop. This
year we are happy to announce that all items will be supplied exclusively by a favorite, local
merchant ~ Love Letters. We'll have a wide variety of gifts for everyone in your family from
babies to Grandpas! A list of items for purchase and prices will be made available prior to the
9th.
We could still use some additional parent volunteers for this event. If you could help out on
either the 8th after school to set up or the 9th to help the children shop, please contact either

5th Grade Baby Pictures:
It's that time of year again! The yearbook would like a picture (no bigger than a wallet size) of
your 5th grader between the ages of 1-3 years old. Please write your child's name on the back
of the photo and send it to school in an envelope marked "5th grade baby pics". These pictures
will not be returned. Please call Cheri Ratner @ 973.994.9221 with any questions. Thank you!

It may be getting cold but we're already thinking about spring....our spring tricky tray event that
is. We're starting to collect items that are much needed: Empty baskets and large decorative
containers can be dropped off at the house of Karen Gelenites at 57 South Ashby Avenue.
We're also interested in any new, unopened items that you or your family has received that
didn't quite fit with your style or tastes. These items can be dropped off at the house of Cami
Konecky at 73 South Ashby Avenue. We can make use of just about anything.
PAGE Meeting:
PAGE (Parent Advocate Group for Excellence), dedicated to enhancing the education of gifted
children, will hold its first meeting of the year on Thursday, November 20, 2008 at 7:00pm.
Please join us in the Collins School Media Center as we discuss our G/T Academic, G/T Art,
G/T Music and our School Wide Enrichment Programs. For additional information, contact your
