Livingston is a community that values education!
School Election/Budget Voting- April 20
Many of us moved here because of the excellent school system. Although the school and community
have recently participated in an arduous process resulting in extraordinary cuts, on a positive note, the
proposed school budget for 2010-2011 continues to maintain many of the core values that we have come
to expect from the Livingston Public Schools! This budget will continue to provide:
Ø Full day Kindergarten
Ø Maintaining class size in Grades 1-5
Ø A Nurse at each complex
Ø Teaming at the middle schools
Ø Maintaining class sizes in Core offerings of English, Math, Science, Social Studies
Ø Robust course elective offerings at LHS/HMS/MPMS
Ø Strong HS Science program

On Tuesday, April 20, it is more important than ever that you vote in the Annual School Election.
The polls will be open from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. If you are still unfamiliar with the details of the budget, click
here to learn more. If you have questions that are not answered by visiting the website, you can contact
the District’s Manager of Communications and Community Outreach, Jess Ganz at jganz@livingston.org.
Friday Bake Sales are back.....
Starting on Friday, April 16th, there will be a bake sale on the blacktop afterschool (weather permitting). If
you are interested in donating a baked item or a store bought item, please email Lauren Stone at
lhstone1@aol.com.
Community Garage and Bake Sale- Saturday, April 17
A Community Garage and Bake Sale, organized by Kids Who Care, will take place on Saturday, April
17th from 9am-1pm on Salem Place (between Bennington Rd. and Lexington Dr.). All proceeds
will benefit the Community Soup Kitchen and Outreach Center. This event is open up to any family
interested in participating. This is a wonderful opportunity for the kids and their families to work together
on a community service project. Families can donate items to sell, spend the day helping out or just
come by and shop - or do all three! Salem Place will be closed for the day making it a safe environment
for everyone. Rain date is Sunday, April 18. Any unsold items will be donated back to Hillside PTA and
used for their clothing and toy drive in May.
Kids Who Care is a volunteer organization started by Hillside students to support the Community Soup
Kitchen and Outreach Center. This group is open to all Livingston Families. Last year over 50 families
participated in this event and over $2,000.00 was raised in support of the Community Soup
Kitchen. Please contact Laurie Wolfe at laurieawolfe@verizon.net for further information.
