WHO… AM I? *Stephanie Martín *24 years in the district *I have taught students from st th 1 through 12 grades WHERE… DID I STUDY/LEARN SPANISH? *I began my studies in high school (for the native St. Louisans – Cor Jesu Academy) *I received my BA from the University of Tulsa, after completing my Junior year at La Universidad Complutense de Madrid *I received my Master’s from Washington University WHAT… AM I TEACHING? ADVANCED SPANISH HONORS… Students engage in a variety of activities designed to increase their proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing while deepening their understanding of language and culture. In addition, students will complete a comprehensive review of advanced grammatical structures in Spanish. THEY WILL: Students will: -read authentic texts - listen to conversations by native speakers on a variety of topics -write informal and formal compositions -discuss, debate and present -use advanced grammatical structures, vocabulary and expressions to: engage in conversations, exchange opinions,, and provide and obtain information (spoken and written) - reinforce and further their knowledge of the elements of literature and composition, through the study of these concepts in Spanish -demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between the practices and perspectives of the cultures studied HOW WILL STUDENTS BE ASSESSED? Homework, quizzes, tests, projects, presentations, etc… 80% Oral Participation, daily preparation…10% Daily assignments, binder checks… 10% FINAL EXAM … 20% SEMESTER GRADE CHS’S ACADEMIC INTEGRITY POLICY WILL BE STRICTLY FOLLOWED!
