Decades Project: 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s
Non-negotiable: 1. You must teach a lesson about one of these decades - at
least 20 minutes. 2. Your lesson must be engaging - include multiple
activities. 3. Your lesson must include all of the strand information from pg. 2.
4. Every group member must participate.
Steps & directions to follow for successful completion:
1. select NO MORE than 3 group members. Consider: you may have to some work outside of
school. Ask your potential group members if they can stay for think tank or workdays. Or can
you all get together on a weekend or afternoon with ease?
2. Choose your decade. No more than 2 groups will be allowed to do the same decade. In the
case where 3 groups want a decade, we will choose by drawing numbers,
3. Choose your method for teaching the class your lesson. Will you use power point, keynote, Imovie, skit, notes / lecture, newspaper, magazine……….or make an original proposal and
pitch it to Dr. Hardt. She LOVES it when kids think of things cooler than her ideas!
4. You MUST use classroom resources FIRST. What does this mean? You have to use the
classroom textbooks, library and materials BEFORE using the computer. Hint - hint: you can
even send a member at a time to the library. You will not need to work as a full unit the
entire time. You can slit up and complete your research.
