Rising Junior Scores • • • • • • The Rising Junior Exam is required of all sophomores. It is administered on computer. Students are asked to read at least five pieces of evidence. Students are asked to critique or make an argument or take a position based on the evidence read. The position or argument is typed into the computer. The student’s response is graded using a four point rubric. Environment To support Making Evidence-Based Decisions What will we be looking for? Professional Development of Faculty and Staff A critical mass of faculty and staff from each participating unit enroll in development activities to acquire strategies that will enhance the opportunities for students to practice evidence-based decisionmaking. Faculty and staff acquire strategies to assess evidencebased decision-making. Late Assessment of Making EvidenceBased Decisions What will we be looking for? Assessments of Junior and Senior Evidence-Based Decision-Making Using critical thinking rubrics applied to embedded course assignments. Using Senior Exit Examinations: CLA-style capstone experiences. Final Answer: MEBD as FSU’s QEP must create an environment supportive of increasing the critical and analytical thinking skills of students in the upper division.
