Apply the nursing process to individuals and groups across the lifespan and in various developmental stages Means of Assessment and Criteria for Success Mean: Weekly Clinical Evaluation Tool (WCET) Rubric – Clinical performance/observation, clinical preparation, pathophysiology, anecdotal notes of clinical instructor; nursing care plan rubric Criteria: 90% of the students will achieve an overall “Satisfactory” rating for competency 1 and competency 5 reflecting appropriate use of the nursing process in 4 out of 5 weeks. 5 2. Display professional behavior standards of nursing practice. Date: June 2014 Summary of Data Collected N = 72 Will continue to monitor WCET and nursing care plans. On written clinical evaluation tool, all but one student received Satisfactory in the delivery of care to adult patients and families. On nursing care plans, all but one student scored 75% on the required (2) nursing care plans. 90% of the students will score 75% on the required 2 sets of nursing care plans. One student withdrew voluntarily during Fall 2013 for personal reasons. Mean: WCET Rubric, clinical performance observation by the instructor throughout the quarter, Anecdotal notes of clinical instructors, Result: On written clinical evaluations, more than 90% received a rating of satisfactory for the quarter from clinical instructors on competency #5. Criteria: 90% of nursing students will practice within ethical/legal boundaries when assessing, planning and implementing patient care as evidenced by receiving a “satisfactory” rating on the WCET in 4 out of 5 weeks. Use of Results Continue to monitor performance of students during clinical and in classroom areas. 1 3. Integrate therapeutic communication skills verbally, non-verbally, and in writing. Mean: WCET Rubric, electronic and written documentation, handoff report (SBAR) Criteria: 90% of the students will demonstrate effective verbal, nonverbal and written communication skills by utilizing appropriate channels of communication, provide accurate and pertinent communication when reporting and documenting the nursing process as evidenced by a “Satisfactory on the clinical evaluation tool in 4 out of 5 weeks. 2 4. Demonstrate clinical decision making that is accurate and safe and that moves the client and family towards positive outcomes across the lifespan and in various developmental stages. Result: On weekly clinical evaluation tool more than 90% of students were given a rating of Satisfactory on competency #2. Continue to monitor performance during clinical activities.
