MAT 1033: Course Policies Required Text: Instructor: Susana Fernandez Rodriguez Intermediate Algebra 2nd Edition by Miller/O'Neill/Hyde Email: sfernan3@mdc.edu Please turn off your cell phones or set them to silent upon entering the classroom. Homework is assigned for each section and will be collected the day of the exam. Homework may come from your text, from handouts, or both. It is worth an additional 10 points on your exam, if complete. Very few points are given for partial homework. Homework requirements: HW must be in a thin notebook. All work must be neatly. shown Answers alone are not acceptable. Each Section must begin on a new page, with the upper right-hand corner of the page highlighted with the section number. Homework not meeting the requirements will not be graded. Homework is never accepted late. It is due before you begin the exam. Attendance: I must take attendance every class, however, attendance is neither required nor considered as part of your grade. The lectures will be thorough and may contain material not in your text, so skip at your own risk. CALCULATORS may be used on any exam and are strongly encouraged. I recommend the Casio fx-115ES Grading Policy: 6 Exams and an optional Final Exams must be taken in class at the scheduled time, unless alternate arrangements are made in advance. Your grade will be determined by either Option 1: 6 exams Option 2 : 6 exams and Final, with Final replacing lowest grade In either case, take the average: 90 and above = A 89 to 80 = B 79 to 70 = C 69 to 60 = D 59 or below = F This syllabus may be altered at any time in class, you must verify test dates and assignments if you do not attend class regularly. Incompletes: only given in extraordinary circumstances, usually medical. You MUST be passing and have completed at least half the course.
