You have two options regarding the subject matter: Option #1 Write an argumention essay discussing you point of view concerning media, be it internet, television, or even radio. Depending on your stance, discuss the positive or effects on people. Also, talk about how media would affect parents, children, students, and the world as a whole. Remember to be specific and detailed in your writing. Some things you might want to think about: Different types of media. Different groups of people. Specific examples to substantiate your position. Option #2 Write an argumentation essay persuading someone to go to a specific two-year college and a four-year university. Focus on specific similarities and differences. Feel free to use specific examples, like MDC and UM. Some things you might want to think about: What is size of the institution? Where are the schools located? Discuss the student population and faculty. What are the academic programs like? Objectives: Students will practice different types of invention strategies. Students will appeal to the emotions of their audience in their own essays. Students will write effective introductions. Students will incorporate persuasion and causal analysis. Students will practice argumentation and cause and effect. Evaluation Criteria The most important thing is that you fully use you analytical skills in using the appropriate rhetorical structure. I will be looking to see how well you appeal to your audience and how well you stress the logical and emotional aspects of your association with the person/place. Also, I will be looking for the use of opening and concluding strategies. The style will be formal, and I want to see how well you can utilize the standards of American Edited English. I will be looking to see how well you incorporate argumentation-persuasion and causal analysis. I will focus on the quality of your introduction. I am not looking for grammatical perfection, but the essay must be readable and free of mechanical errors that distract your reader.
