CRW 2002 Class Syllabus
Text: The Lie that Tells the Truth by John Dufresne
Student’s Choice Novel: Must be written by a living author
This class will be focusing on fiction and creative nonfiction. Those who
prefer poetry may register for Creative Writing 2001 with Prof. PauLlosa.
We will be both writing and editing. Writing should total a minimum of
6000 words, but may be as much as you can handle. Editing will be
based on class attendance.
Literary magazine: This Honors class will work on Miambiance, the
Kendall Campus literature and arts magazine. All students will read
and evaluate fiction submitted to the magazine. Students who wish to
work outside of class may do so as editors of the magazine. All others
will be considered editorial assistants and will be responsible for helping
to choose the pieces we use in the magazine.
Contract: Grading is done by contract. The contract is on a separate
handout.
Attendance: You are expected to be in class. You will be permitted to
miss 6 classes without need for documentation to receive an A.
Conferences: All students will be scheduled to have one individual
conference with the teacher.
