Course work and Grades
There is a lot of material to learn in this course. Students need to study at home every day and do all the
homework. It is impossible to do well in this course without a lot of individual study time.
If you do not understand a lesson, come to my office immediately, and I will help you.
The final grade in the course will be A (100-90), B (89-80), C (79-70), D (69-60), F (59 or below):
Attendance and class participation
10%
Homework assignments
10%
Tests and Final Examination
80%
Note: Make up quizzes/tests will not be given. The final examination cannot be taken early.
Attendance and Punctuality
Come to class on time and attend classes regularly. If you are later or absent, your grade goes down. If you are
absent for 3 consecutive lessons, you will be dropped from the class. More than 4 absences in a MWF class
and 3 absences in a TR class can result in a drop or a failing grade. If you are not in class during attendance
check, you will be marked absent. You must see me after the class so that I mark you late. In the final grade,
2 late arrivals will count as 1 absence. But you will be marked absent if you arrive 20 minutes late.
Cell phones
Turn off your cell phones during the lesson. Phones and beepers may not ring nor be answered during the
lesson.
