ADVANCED MARKETING/STUDENT STORE MANAGEMENT
MRS. ELAM/MRS. FABRITIUS
Advanced Marketing/Student Store Management are courses in which students apply marketing
and business concepts through classroom projects, DECA projects, and operation and
management of the student store.
As a part of the marketing program, it is strongly encouraged that students become members of
DECA, a national association of marketing students. The purpose of CHS DECA is to provide
members with classroom and community opportunities that develop deeper understanding of
marketing, leadership qualities, social awareness and a sense of responsibility to school and
community. In addition to the many activities tied to classroom curriculum, there are a wide
variety of social, leadership, educational and community activities available to DECA members.
Yearly dues of $20.00 are due by October 2. If this presents a financial burden, please contact us
for other arrangements.

STUDENT OUTCOMES
1. Students will develop knowledge about the organization of businesses in the free enterprise
system.
2. Students will develop leadership skills to promote productive and responsible personal
involvement in school, on the job, and in the community.
3. Students will develop effective organizational skills, including decision making, goal setting,
and prioritizing.
4. Students will acquire information and skills necessary for effective job search and will be given
the opportunity to explore careers in marketing.
5. Students will acquire knowledge and develop positive attitudes and habits which contribute to
safe working conditions in business.
INSTRUCTION and GRADING
Attendance:
 Just like in any job, attendance and punctuality are a must.
Work ethic/attitude: Students are expected to demonstrate the following at all times:

Work performance:
 Students will periodically be evaluated on their work performance and given opportunities
for improvement
Class work:
 This is a project based class in which material is presented in a variety of ways: online text,
videos, guest speakers, assignments, classroom activities, presentations and discussions.
You will be given project options that interest you and at times you will work in teams.


standards), as well as how actively you engage in class and demonstration of employability
skills in the Student Store.
