1. When the plumber comes to my house to fix the leaky faucet, he charges a flat rate of $50 in
addition to charging $22 per hour. If the final bill was $116, how long was the plumber at
my house?
2. The sum of three consecutive odd integers is 237. What are the integers?
3. Drew and Cindy are flight instructors at Jet Stream Aviation. Drew currently makes $24 an
hour, but he earns an extra $60 a week for washing airplanes. Cindy makes $35 an hour, but
she doesn’t do any work on the side. How many hours do they each have to work to have the
same income each week? Round to the nearest 10th of an hour if necessary.
4. Sarah is three more than four times John’s age. Together, their ages equal 28. How old
they? Show the equation as well as the complete answer!
5. You purchase 5 tickets to a football game from an internet ticket agency. In addition to the
cost per ticket, the agency charges a convenience charge of $2.50 per ticket. You also choose
to pay for rush delivery, which costs $15. The total cost of your order is $352.50. What is
the price per ticket before the convenience charge?

6. A rectangle’s length is fourteen feet more than its width. The perimeter is 264 feet. Find the
dimensions.
7. Steve mows his neighbor’s lawns for extra cash in the summer. He charges Mrs. Rogers $35
for her 1 ½ acre yard. At this rate, how much should he charge Mr. Timber for his yard if it
is 6 ¾ of an acre.
8. Find the angle measures of a triangle if the first angle is thirty-one degrees more than the
second, and the third is five degrees less than twice the first. Show the equation as well as
the complete answer!
9. Larry, Mo, and Curly entered a hot dog eating contest. Larry ate the most hot dogs. Mo ate
two less than Larry, and Curly ate two less than Mo. Between the three of them, they ate
eighty-seven hot dogs. How many hot dogs did each individual person eat?
10. Write your own equation word problem. Try to be as CREATIVE as possible! Be sure to
