Art prompt: On 12x18" paper turned vertically, using Sharpies only, illustrate the story or event you were asked to think about over the weekend. No stick figures, pencils, nor sketches! 2. View a Persian print and compare to your own drawing. Hear the story behind the painting. 3. Critique: a. Describe what is going on in this painting. b. Analyze how perspective in this painting is different from Western linear perspective. (remember: overlapping, location, size, atmosphere, detail, converging lines.) c. Interpret the mood/expression of the people in this scene. d. Middle Eastern map research: Fill in the blank map of the Middle East. Use http://www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/middle_east_and_asia/middle_east_pol_2012.pdf to place country names properly. What do you know about each country or region? 5. Pogil: These artworks show Persian style and these do not. Describe Persian style in your group. Share out what makes Persian Style. Refine definition with more comparisons. 6. You will draw several live models to add to a Persian patterned scene. Please sketch several students in action poses. For homework, sketch family members and start deciding what your scene will look like. Be sure to include a room for your figures to be in. This is a genre scene: showing everyday people in everyday poses. Tuesday 1. Scholastic Art magazine, Persian art, March 2011: read and discuss critical thinking questions. Wednesday 1. Work on your layout for the Persian style miniature painting. 2. Your teacher will help you find resources and tools to make your patterns. Thursday, Friday 1.
