Thank you Mrs. Shaw for sending in water bottles for tomorrow. Thank you Mrs. Holm for sending in Kool-Aid
and popcorn. I think the kids will really enjoy reading their spooky stories tomorrow, and showing their other
projects to each other.
We just wrapped up our second big STEAM project. The children researched an animal, made a habitat for
their animal in a shoebox, wrote a poem about their animal or habitat, or copied one and artistically decorated it
and for the math component, calculated the area of the box's base.
DO YOU WANT YOUR CHILD TO BRING HOME THE HABITAT, OR DO YOU WANT TO GENTLY
SUGGEST IT BE PUT IN THE TRASH. (I know that sounds horrible.) I did take pictures of some of the habitats
and texted the photos to the students' moms, but I didn't do all 24. Some are boxes that are hanging open,
spilling forth sand and pebbles. Some may be difficult to carry onto a bus. Please advise your child what you
want them to do tomorrow with their project at the end of day.
The first quarter is wrapping up and I have encouraged, begged and pleaded with the children to clean out their
desks. We want to start the new quarter with a fresh clean room and better organizational skills than we did in
August. Some students brought home work to complete, namely a multiplication packet. It is due tomorrow.
Some students finished it earlier in the week.
PLEASE ENCOURAGE YOUR CHILD TO READ EVERYDAY. MAYBE PICK A DIFFERENT SPOT TO READ
TO MAKE IT FEEL SPECIAL AND DIFFERENT, LIKE ON A BENCH OUTSIDE.
I will be sending home a Scholastic Book Order form. This has nothing to do with the school book fair. These
Scholastic Book Order forms go home all year. If you want to place an order for your child's Christmas present,
you can place the order in a sealed envelope and send it in with your child. I will call you when the order comes
in so that we keep it a secret.
