The 6 Minute Solution (Fluency Program) I will be starting this program this week where students show growth as they read, check, and chart their progress. Students are excited to see how their bar graphs climb across the page with each read. It is a great way to build reading fluency and comprehension. Literacy: Last week students learned about Character Traits with Frog and Toad and created Venn Diagrams. We also looked at improving our reading stamina by focusing on read to self and we are working on work on writing in class for Daily 5. Mrs. Flittner, our speech and language pathologist and Mrs. Dash, hearing impaired teacher will be visiting. Letterland: Gentle Ginger and Dippy Duck. Normally Golden Girl makes the sound /g/. In this unit, students will learn the soft sound of g when followed by e. The Blue Magic that Mr. E invented at Golden Girl’s request to spotlight her good friend Gentle Ginger the Gymnast in words such at stage and huge. This soft sound sounds like Jumping Jim’s sound which is /j/. We will learn about the concept of silent d in words like badge, fudge, and judge.
