Welcome to Ms. Fabris
Geometry Class!
Welcome to Geometry! I am
very excited for us to learn and
become stronger mathematicians
together this school year. This class
is a safe place for any and all
questions and is designed such that
students can brainstorm and have
mathematical conversations with
their classmates. Cooperation and
respect are vital characteristics
students will have to master to be
successful in this class.
At the end of this course
students will be given an SOL
(standards of learning)
examination. We will be preparing
for this exam all year and you will
be able to find resources pertaining
to this exam on my classroom
website.
We look forward to working
with you all this year! If you have
any questions please do not
hesitate to contact me. The best
way to reach me is by email at
carly.fabris@lcps.org. You may
reach me through the school phone
number 571-434-3200. I will do my
best to respond within one school
day.
Classroom Rules:
1. Be Respectful – to the
teachers, your classmates, the
classroom and yourself!
2. Be Prepared – when you
enter the classroom first pick
up a bellringer activity. Then
place the previous night’s
homework on your desk and
begin working. You should
always bring a pencil, paper,
and your math binder to class.
3. Be Patient – Math can be
difficult. Be patient when you
or your classmates struggle.
4. Try Your Best – You should
always put 100% into your
work. You DESERVE that, it is
part of respecting yourself.
Please don’t hesitate to contact Ms. Fabris with any questions or
concerns.

Materials:
-Pencils: All math must be
done in pencil
- Binder with 4 dividers
(notes, exit tickets,
quizzes/study guides,
homework)
- Compass and Protractor
- TI-84 graphing calculator
(see my website for the
school calculator policy)
Grading Criteria:
90% - Summative
(Tests/Cumulative Tests)
10% - Formative
(Classwork/Homework
Quizzes/Projects)
Your grade will be
reflective of you
knowledge of the material.
Tests make up most of
your grade, but formative
assessments also play a
key role in your grade.
Homework will be
checked and recorded
daily. However, homework
is meant to be practice.
Thus, I will not be grading
these assignments.
Retake Policy
There are no retakes on tests or
quizzes in this class. However, we
will be giving cumulative
assessments at the end of each
quarter. These assessments will
cover all the chapters taught in a
particular quarter. Each student
will be given a sub score for each
chapter. If the sub score is higher
than a student’s grade on that
chapter test we will replace the
chapter test grade with the
cumulative test sub score.
This policy allows students to
demonstrate mastery of a topic
even if it takes a student longer
then the unit to fully understand
the material. Students will be able
to come in for help at any point
during the quarter regardless of
when the material was taught.
Ms. Fabris is here to
help!
PLEASE stop in to get help as
soon as you feel you are falling
behind. We are available for
help during PriROARities,

room 145. The Geometry lab
(help sessions where the
Geometry teacher assisting
students rotates) will be
Tuesday mornings at 8:00 AM
in room 145.
