Welcome to Ms.
Fabris’ AA/PreCalculus Class!
Welcome to Pre-Calculus! I’m
very excited for us to learn and
become stronger mathematicians
together this school year. This class
is a safe place for any and all
questions and is designed such that
students can brainstorm and have
mathematical conversations with
their classmates. Cooperation and
respect are vital characteristics
students will have to master to be
successful in this class.
Throughout this course,
students will develop learning
strategies, critical thinking skills,
and problem solving techniques to
prepare for future math courses
and college entrance exams. There
is no SOL test for this course.
This class is designed to be fast
paced and rigorous. Thus it is vital
that students seek help as soon as
they feel they are falling behind.
With hard work and dedication
everyone will succeed in this class.
I look forward to working with
you all this year! If you have any
questions please do not hesitate to
contact me. I can be reached at
carly.fabris@lcps.org or by phone
at 571-434-3200
Classroom Rules:
1. Be Respectful – to the
teacher, your classmates, the
classroom and yourself.
2. Be Prepared – when you
enter the classroom first pick
up a bellringer activity. Then
place the previous nights
homework on your desk and
begin working. You should
always bring a pencil, paper,
and your math binder to class.
3. Be Patient – Math can be
difficult. Be patient when you
or your classmates struggle.
4. Try Your Best – You should
always put 100% into your
work. You DESERVE that and
it is part of respecting
yourself.
Please don’t hesitate to contact Ms. Fabris with
any questions or concerns.

Materials:
-Pencils: All math must be
done in pencil.
- Binder with 4 dividers
(warm ups, notes, exit
tickets, quizzes/study
guides)
- TI-84 graphing calculator
(see my website for our
school calculator policy)
Grading Criteria:
90% Tests/Projects
10% Daily Quizzes,
Problem Sets, other in
class work as assigned
Your grade will be
reflective of you
knowledge of the material.
Tests and projects make
up most of your grade, but
formative assessments
also play a key role.
Homework will be
checked for completion
and recorded daily.
However, homework is
meant to be practice. Thus,
I will not be grading these
assignments. You must
turn in problem sets on
time to have any test
scores replaced (see back
page for details).
Opportunities for
Mastery
There are no retakes on tests or
quizzes in this class. However, we
will be giving cumulative
assessments at the end of each
quarter. The assessment will be
sectioned off based on units
covered that quarter. If a student’s
section score on the cumulative
assessment is higher than the
grade the earned on the
corresponding unit test the test
grade will be replaced. Students
are only eligible for this
opportunity if they have turned in
all problem sets on time.
This policy allows students to
demonstrate mastery of a topic
even if it takes a student longer
then the unit to fully understand
the material. Students will be able
to come in for help at any point
during the quarter regardless of
when the material was taught.
Ms. Fabris is here to
help!
PLEASE stop in to get help as
soon as you feel you are falling
behind. I am available during
PriROARities, Monday and
Thursday mornings from 8:158:45 AM and Mondays after

help sessions take place in

the student agenda for tardy
consequences.
2. If you’re absent Ms. Fabris will
put together any missing notes,
worksheets or assignments for
students and place it in the
classroom paper trays. It is the
students’ responsibility to pick up
this work from the tray. If you are
absent the day of a test/quiz you
