Activity 1
Complete the Vocabulary Activities and pause and reflect questions as you read.
Activity 2
Complete the Main Idea/Detail Summary Graphic Organizer
Station 3
Recreate the story or write an original story using either i-movie, keynote, video
slide show or picture book. Make sure to include in your recreation or original story
description of the characters using good characterization techniques. Also, include
the plot depicting the conflict, climax, and resolution. There should be a clear
beginning, middle, and end to your story with clear images and words and phrases.
Be ready for your work to be presented to the class.

as you read the short story
Activity 2
Go into your email open the video, watch it, and listen to it. Then complete the
graphic organizers on what your learn about Hiking Safety (main idea, details, and a
summary sentence)
Activity 3
Create a picture book of the story plot, showing the setting, character(s), conflict,
and resolution. You can use the story element graphic to help you plan.

With the Graphic organizer describe the main character Yuki then follow the
sack full of possessions activity:
 Take the sack full of possessions handout and glue or draw words, phrases,
pictures, and symbols showing descriptions of the character.
 Make sure to include physical descriptions, the characters thoughts, actions,
and their relationship with others.
 Think of things from the plot that the character might need and include this
in the sack full of possessions.
 You can draw, or cut from magazines your pictures, words, or phrases. Please
use color and make your sack look GREAT!
