HOW AUTHORS CREATE FEELING FOR READERS
VOCABULARY
• Setting- the time and place of a piece
of literature
• Mood- the atmosphere of a piece of
literature; the emotions the reader
feels while reading it
• Tone- the attitude of the writer that
comes through a piece of literature
WRITING EXERCISE
• Listen to this piece of music and write
whatever comes to mind for two minutes.
• Do the same with this one.
• What ideas did you come up with during
both writing times?

writers use to create feelings in their readers?
