Types of precipitation include rain, snow, and ice (sleet and hail) Three types of clouds are: 1. cirrus – flat, curl, highest in the sky 2. cumulus – big, fluffy, and white 3. stratus – close to the ground, wispy, foggy Compare and contrast droughts (long period of dry weather) and floods (long period of rain) Types of storms include hurricanes, tornadoes, blizzards, and thunderstorms o Hurricanes – powerful storm that forms over a warm ocean o Tornados – type of storm made of strong winds that spin o Blizzard - type of storm that forms when snow is falling or blowing Weather Tools: 1. Thermometer- measures how hot or cold the air is. 2. Wind vane– measures the direction of the wind. 3. Rain Gauge- measures the amount of precipitation.
