Mrs. McInnis’s Monday Memo Here’s what’s happening in our class the week of December 14th: Reading- This week we will create and answer different levels of questions in non-fiction readers. Students are also working on a letter to me showing what they have learned in a non-fiction book. This project is due by Friday. Language- This week in Writing Workshop we will work on our Jamestown letters and holiday writing. Students are doing a nice job of publishing their letters in cursive. Science- We will learn about the moon and its phases this week. Students will have a Sun Quiz tomorrow. Math- Students will have a long division quiz on Thursday. Problems will be similar to the ones on the homework sheet this week. Please continue to practice multiplication and division facts diligently as we enter the New Year, too. Students should also continue do some Reflex and Dreambox at least once a week at home. Reminders and important dates: 1. We will be having a holiday party this Friday, December 18th, at 1:15. Thank you to all parents who are coming in and/or sending in treats for the children! 2. It would be a good idea to ask your child if he or she needs to replace any of their school supplies over the break. I have seen a lot of students asking to borrow pencils, highlighters, or red pens. 3. The Holiday Sing-a-long is Friday at 8:30. Please join us if you can! 4. If your child is going to miss school between now and Friday, please send in a note or an email. Certain assignments need to be finished before break or they will be sent home if needed. 5. There will be no word study or DLR this week. We will start those again in January. 6. I hope you have a wonderful, safe, and joyous holiday break! See you all in 2016!
