~Mrs. Sherry’s November News~ November 16, 2015 ~Famous American Presentations~ Wednesday, November 18th from 8:50am-9:20am Students are currently completing final writings and will complete their reports in class. Students have brought home information about their famous American. Please practice with your child so that they can answer questions about their famous American during the presentation. ~What We Are Learning~ Reading: We are continuing our non-fiction unit with a focus on previewing, using text features, and grasping the main ideas and supporting details. Students are also learning steps to take to learn from our non-fiction reading and teaching what they are learning to their reading partners. Language Arts: Word Study Test on 11/20. During writing, we will be completing our famous American writings. Math: We have begun our unit on money. Money assessment will take place by Tuesday, November 24th. The students will be expected to count the value of a collection of money ($5.00 or less), compare the value of bills and coins, and make change. Contents: The government unit, which focuses on laws, rules, rights, and government has started. I will send home a study guide on Wednesday. The study guide can be used to play a matching game or make study cards. We will test on government on Monday, November 23rd. ~I hope that everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving!~
