Third Grade Newsletter November 2015 November News and Notes This is a very exciting and busy month in third grade. We will be studying maps in social studies and energy and resources in science. It will be important, as always, for students to be in school on time each day because we are using every instructional minute available to us. Information on upcoming units of study will be listed on our grade level webpage. On November 11th at 9:00 A.M., our music teacher, Mrs. Olejer, will be coordinating our 5th graders in presenting our Veterans’ Day assembly. Everyone is invited to join us. If you have a family member who served, or is serving in the armed forces, encourage them to come and take part in the festivities. The week of November 16th – 20th is American Education Week. The third grade will be creating learning games for parents to participate in. We are inviting all parents to come to participate in an afternoon of learning games on Wednesday, November 18th t from 1:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m. Students will take turns playing and running the games we make. We look forward to seeing everyone there. On November 24th, we will be taking a field trip to the Udvar Hazy Air and Space Museum in Chatilly, VA. Students will participate in a learning lab about the moon and have a chance to explore the exhibits of the museum. More information about this trip and permission slips will come home in the Tuesday folder. If you have not scheduled a conference with your child’s classroom teacher, please contact us as soon as possible to set one up. Report cards will be coming home on Wednesday, November 11th. It is important to discuss the contents of the report card with your child. You should discuss where your child is currently and help them set goals for themselves for the next quarter. You should also help your child come up with strategies for in school and out of school to help them achieve their goals. You will need to sign and return the slip. Please feel free to contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions about the report card or need a follow up conference.
