Natural resources-not made by humans and include forests, farmable land, coal, sand, rocks, wildlife, aquatic organisms, clean water, clean air, and beautiful scenery 2. Human-made resources-Products made by people from the resources found in Virginia. Examples include wood flooring and furniture. 3. River-flows from the mountains down to another body of water, such as into the Chesapeake Bay. Examples in Virginia include the James and Potomac Rivers. 4. Bay-body of water surrounded on 3 sides by land. An example is the Chesapeake Bay. 5. Lake-body of water surrounded on all sides by land. An example in Virginia is Smith Mountain Lake. 6. Watershed-an area over which surface water, and all of the material in that surface water, flow to a single collection place. An example of a watershed in Virginia is the Chesapeake Bay watershed. 7. Mineral resources-coal, limestone, granite, sand, and gravel are examples of mineral resources in Virginia. 8. Natural forests-groups of trees that have grown over time and have not been planted by humans. 9. Cultivated forests-groups of trees deliberately planted by humans, generally after harvesting of the natural forest.
