January 2016
Dear Parents,
Happy New Year! We hope everyone had a restful, relaxing Winter Break filled
with lots of holiday fun. We are moving on to a new year of many exciting things
happening in Kindergarten. It is wonderful to see the growth the students have
demonstrated the past few months. January is a busy month for us.
Sight Words:
Please practice reading and writing the following sight words at home: am, an,
at, can, go, is, me my, see, the, to, up, we, and, do, got, had, has, his, in, it, like,
look, on, are, come, did, for, get, have, here, him, of, play, said, she, will, you
Reminders:
Recess: It is important your child is appropriately dressed for the weather.
Please remember our students go outside for recess and they need to wear a
coat to school when the weather is chilly.
Please work with your child on zipping their coats. This is very helpful during
pack-up during the winter months.
Reading Strategies to work with your child at home:
When trying to decode an unknown word in a passage, ask if it is a word from
the “word wall”.
When reading a story with your child, discuss the beginning, middle, and end
of the story.
Dates to Remember:
1/4- School Resumes
1/18- Holiday- No School
1/29- Moveable Student Holiday (Teacher Workday)
Thank you for your support! Have a great
January!
