Composing a Setting
• Take one minute to look at a photograph
• Write down 10 adjectives to describe the
image
– You must cover each of the five senses.
– DON’T THINK!!
• Write down at least one simile or metaphor to
describe what you see
Conflict
Now we will use the same images to create a plot
There is no right or wrong idea here.
Create an antagonist and follow the four basic
conflicts for each photo:
-man v. man
-man v. nature
-man v. society
-man v. self

Characters
• Who would most likely be involved in your
conflict?
• What job would that person have?
• What kind of family would that person be in?
• Who would s/he associate with?
• What clothes would s/he have?
• Describe, describe, describe!
