This project involves using the Engineering Design Process. Students are in groups and will be researching the elements of flight as they complete their challenge. In their groups, students will be constructing a glider that includes a shoebox as the fuselage as well as wings and a tail. As students work, they will identify other materials the need to help create their glider. Those materials will be up to the individual groups. We will videoconference with NASA during the project to get feedback on our designs. This is an exciting project full of collaboration, cooperation, communication, and creativity! Nursery Rhymes in Disguise… UPCOMING EVENTS… We have a lot of exciting upcoming events for fifth graders as we get toward the end of the school year. Please see the flyer that was sent home for specific information. Even though we have these fun events, please know that instruction is still taking place and the activities are privileges. If students are not exhibiting appropriate behavior, they may not be able to participate in one or more events. Baby Pictures For one of our end of the year activities, we are asking for parents to email or send in a baby picture of your fifth grader (preferably something around a year old) for a project. Email is preferable, but if you can’t do that, please send in a picture. We will scan it and get it right back in the same condition you sent it in. THANKS!!
