New Experimental Classroom
Thanks to feedback from Academy eLearning faculty and input from around campus, Academic
Technologies has launched a new kind of learning space that facilitates student teamwork and studentcentered pedagogy using their own devices (laptops and tablets). The collaborations of students in the
classroom can lead to increased communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. This new
learning space will allow faculty and students opportunities to explore emerging teaching and learning
methods with or without technology.

Application Whitelisting Update
The purpose of this software is to better secure campus PCs running Windows. Specifically, whitelisting
identifies “good” software (i.e. software not carrying any viruses or malware) and allows whitelisted software
to be installed normally by end users, while preventing “bad” software from being installed. Unknown
software will be subject to review before installation. Testing, configuration, and implementation has been
steered by a technical subcommittee of the Administrative Technology Committee (ATC). Currently there are
370+ machines in the system, with more than half of those individuals successfully running in the most
secure mode. Pilot testing concluded in the Fall semester, along with information being presented to Cabinet,
Academic Senate, Staff Council, AA/S's, and other various committees and departments.
With the pilot and implementation processes now finished, we will begin campus communications and
deliberate roll-out to the general campus community. More info can be found on our wiki at:
