Guidelines for Revising and Grading Compositions
1. Total possible score: 50 points.
2. Errors in the four areas (spelling, grammar, diction, and thesis) are scored
according to the chart below.
3. If you receive a total score below 45, you must rewrite the first draft, and
hand in both the first and the second draft together at the time that the
second draft is due.
4. If you receive a score of 45 or more, you don’t need to rewrite the
composition. Simply correct on the original draft.
5. If you repeat a certain mistake more than once, it will be only counted one
time.
6. First drafts are worth 50%; second drafts are worth 50%.
