Tuesday, February 16th, 2016 AP English Language and Composition Mastery Objectives: SWBAT reflect upon creative elements and respond in a critical manner. AGENDA: 1. Turn in research paper electronically. 2. In groups, finish SOAPSTone analysis and discuss rhetorical strategies used by Swift to create satire in his modest proposal (e.g., irony, understatement, diction, etc.) and provide examples. Present results to class. 3. Discuss dialect from opening chapters of The Adventures of Huck Finn. In groups, you will 1) be assigned a character (i.e., Huck, Pap, Jim, Tom, Buck Grangerford, Mary Jane or Duke and Dauphin), 2) determine two or three representative quotes from your character and then 3) determine what type of people they were from the language they used. HOMEWORK/UPCOMING DUE DATES: Next vocabulary list will be due this Friday. Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is due to be completed by Thursday, 3 March.
