prologue/introduction from “Way to Rainy Mountain” (pp. 312) by Momaday. How would you describe the language
from these readings? What makes it unique to Native
Americans? What did you learn from the readings that

2. With clock buddy, compare two different versions of the
history about the “Trail of Tears.” Explain how the passages
reveal the differences in the authors’ purposes. Consider such
features as tone, selection of detail, diction, and syntax.
