English as a Second Language Centralia College, Fall 2012 To register for ESL, come to the front desk at the entrance of the Kirk Library at Centralia College located at 600 Centralia College Blvd, Centralia, WA 98531. New students and students who have not attended in the previous two quarters will need to attend an intensive orientation in order to register. Interested individuals only need to go to the front counter at the Kirk Library to make an appointment for orientation. The English as a Second Language Program at Centralia College offers classes in Centralia and Winlock. There is a $25.00 a quarter charge for the class, but anyone who meets the low income eligibility standards or receives public assistance qualifies for a fee waiver. This is a list of our classes, locations and schedules. These are subject to change. Mornings Level 1-5 Centralia College Evenings Level 1-6 Centralia College Monday – Friday 8:30 – 11:20 a.m. This is a multi-level class. This schedule includes work in the computer lab. The students learn to use different computer programs in order to be able to study on their own outside of class. Mon., Tues., Wed., Thurs. 6:00 – 8:50 p.m. The evening program offers classes by levels. Levels one and two have class together. Level three is a separate class. Levels four and five, meet as a group. All levels work in the computer lab. Students learn to use computer programs in order to be able to study on their own outside of the class. Reading for Civics Participation Thursdays 6:00 – 8:50 p.m. Civics and US History are the focus of this content area reading class. The goal of this class is to help students reach a better understanding of the United States, its history and government so that they may become better community members. GED in Spanish Mondays 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m. Thursdays 6:00 – 8:50 p.m. In order to participate in this program, you MUST be a registered, participating ESL student. If you have completed 9th grade or more in your country, you can prepare for and take the GED tests in Spanish. They are a series of five tests that when passed, allow the student to receive a GED certificate. We offer this class to help students prepare for these tests. Centralia College Winlock Miller Elementary Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 6:00 – 8:20 p.m. Multi-level. This class is taught at the elementary school. Villa Los Milagros 3115 Ives Rd. Centralia, WA Monday through Friday 8:30-11:20 a.m. This is a multi-level class. This class was created especially for people with small children who don’t have day care.
