Explains the solution by describing the process used to solve the problem.
Connects the solution to the problem being solved and to prior knowledge.
Justifies the solution by providing mathematical facts to support the ideas.
Uses multiple representations and appropriate mathematics vocabulary.
Self Evaluation Checklist for Responses in Mathematics
When explaining how I got my answer, I:
□ described the process I used to solve the problem.
□ connected my answer to the problem AND to what I already know about
mathematics.
□ wrote how I knew my solution is correct and/or reasonable.
□ used definitions, rules, formulas, or mathematical concepts to justify my solution.
□ included multiple representations (pictures/diagrams, symbols, charts, graphs,
words.)
□ used mathematics vocabulary.
□ included labels when necessary.
□ reread my explanation to make sure it makes sense.
