A Geocaching Adventure Have GPS Will Travel August 2006 Developed by the Tracy Trimpe and the Havana Hav-A-Vision River Committee Welcome To The Race • The Amazing GPS Race will test your navigation and problem-solving skills. • Each team will need to visit 7 caches and complete the tasks required to receive their clues. (The first cache does not have a task – you just have to find it!) • The clues will provide the waypoints for the caches as well as bits of information that might be helpful. Remember the waypoints may not be perfect, so use the clues provided to help you find the cache locations. • • • • Read your clues carefully and follow the directions to complete each task. Observe speed limits and other traffic laws. Safety first! Caches have been placed in areas that should be easy to access. Keep your eyes open for poison ivy, ticks, & other hazards. Play fair! Teams are not allowed to sabotage other teams by moving caches, stealing clues, etc. • • • Teams are not allowed to ask volunteers for help or hints. All cache hint envelopes, the seven clues, and any items that you are required to find must be turned in at the last cache in order for the clock to “stop”. A 15-minute penalty for each lost hint used and clues or items not turned in will be added to your final time. Participation in the event is voluntary and all participants assume their own risks.
