The data were measured and drift corrected as described in the manuscript main text. All data are contained in the file “supplementary_table_S1.xls”. δ18O and δD measurements appear on the tab labeled “Isotope Measurements” while [Cl-] measurements appear on the tab labeled “Chloride Measurements”. Isotope measurements are referenced to Vienna Standard Mean Ocean Water (VSMOW) in 0/00, or “per mille”. [Cl-] are in units of g kg-1. Depths are in meters below sea floor (mbsf). Measurements on samples taken with squeezers are denoted “squeeze” and measurements on samples taken with Rhizon samplers are denoted “Rhizon”.
