Displaced New Orleans Residents Qualitative Survey – Collaborated on study design,
development of instruments, data collection and analysis. KATIVA-NOLA study –
Assisted with data collection and IRB submission, co-authored book chapter.
2009-2011
Graduate Research Assistant to Dr. Pierre Buekens, Center for Evidence-Based Public
Health at Tulane University SPHTM, working on studies related to MTCT of Chagas
Disease in Honduras, Mexico, Argentina. Assisted with IRB preparation including
translation (English-Spanish) of protocols and consent forms. Co-authored paper on low
birth weight among Hispanics in the United States.

during office hours. Researched & presented a formal lecture on “Latinos in New Orleans.”

2014-2015
Evaluation and Research Coordinator at the Louisiana Public Health Institute in New
Orleans, LA. Coordinated the evaluation of several Community-Engaged and CBPR
projects. Led the development, piloting and evaluation of an applied CBPR curriculum for
community organizations and academic partners working in environmental health research.
Assisted the Louisiana Office of Public Health in a state-wide health assessment and the
writing of a State Health Improvement Plan.
2013-2014
Bilingual (Spanish-English) Patient Navigator at the NO/AIDS Task Force in New Orleans,
LA. Delivered confirmatory HIV results, provided 1:1 counseling, linkage to medical care
and other services. Established and developed professional relationships between NO/AIDS
and outside organizations and providers.
2011-2015
Program & Fundraising Director, Panama Service Learning Trip. Created & led a summer
study abroad program for public school students in New Orleans in rural & urban Panama
(Central America) during the summers of 2011, 2013 and 2015. Developed & implemented
an experiential learning trip itinerary and curriculum, oversaw all fundraising activities
($25,000 yearly fundraising goals).

Bilingual (Spanish-English) Case Manager at the NO/AIDS Task Force in New Orleans,
LA. Counseled HIV infected patients on ARV & medical appointment adherence. Linked
clients to medical, psychosocial, financial, nutrition, housing, transportation, education,
insurance services. Coordinated NO/AIDS Latino Support Group for HIV+ Latinos and
their families.

General Manager at The Spitting Llama Bookstore and Outfitter in Copacabana, Bolivia.
Coordinated local and international public relations, managed 4 employees and business
finances. Promoted youth literacy within the community through a lending-library.

doctor’s orders from patient charts to computerized delivery systems. Coordinated in-patient
appointments, procedures and surgeries on General Medicine and Geriatric floor. Managed
