Objectives of Dissemination Strategy in
Census 2010
1)Timeliness of Data
- How to produce and release data in shortest
possible time?
2) Create Awareness of Data Release
- How best can users be informed of data release?
3) Easier Access to Data
- How best can users access the data?
2
Technology and Timeliness
3
Timeliness: Use of Ultra Mobile Personal
Computer (UMPC) in Census 2010 Fieldwork
Benefits
 Remove need for printing and
transportation of hardcopy survey forms
 Remove need for transcribing
responses back in office.
Automatic branching of questions with
consistency checks reduce back-end
processing efforts with electronically
coded data captured directly in the field
4
Timeliness:
In-house SAS-Based Tabulation System
- Operating on SAS engine with user interacting
through GUI. Users can specify the parameters
using the click-and-select capabilities.
- Process records and perform tabulations swiftly.
- Produce tables in ‘publishable’ format and
removes need for further formatting. The tables can
be exported as MS Excel spreadsheet.
5
Timeliness:
Internet as main means of dissemination
- Statistical releases pushed out on website
before hard-copies are printed.
- Statistical releases pushed out progressively
in themes.
