Then we need GLOBAL CITIZENS like you to help The Global FoodBanking** Network (GFN)* expand the reach of food banking** around the world. Start Date: Time Commitment: Skills/Education: Compensation: As soon as possible through March 8 hours/week in November, 12 hours/week in December (excluding winter break), 16 hours/week in January-March Pursuing an undergraduate degree Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with participants, businesses, corporate guests, staff Ability to speak Spanish a plus Unpaid or College credit if applicable Types of Responsibilities: 1. Assist with the development and implementation of procedures for a new technology based registration system 2. Manage conference registration process a. Primary contact for attendees b. Create and distribute registration materials c. Provide updates on registration and payment status 3. Act as primary liaison with hotel and manage the operational relationship 4. Administer invitation list for the reception 5. Assist in planning meals, transportation, and final dinner 6. Solicit and secure donations of in-kind services 7. Assist with managing the budget Transferable Work Experience you will Gain: Develop and implement procedures for a new computer based registration system Interact with people from around the world, tailoring such communication to take into account cultural differences Manage registration process and relationship with lodging and conference facilities Part of a team working on a large scale project with multiple work-streams Negotiate with vendors for reduced cost and/or in-kind services Your Contribution to GFN’s Mission: Instrumental in facilitating a training opportunity for food bankers to gain new information and interact with other food bankers.
