National Science Week 2016 Executive Committee allocation Sydney Science Festival runs from to 11-21 August 2016 as part of National Science Week. The NSW Inspiring Australia and National Science Week Executive Committee is offering up to $5,000 to organisations that intend to present public events that will attract at least 500 people as part of Sydney Science Festival. The objective of this funding is to support a small number of high-profile events to deliver accessible, entertaining and educational experiences that are open to the general public as part of Sydney Science Festival. The Executive Committee is interested in supporting initiatives that invite participation from the wider community, including those who may not have participated in National Science Week programs in the past. What the funds can be used for The Executive Committee invites applications to support Events that can be used to mark the launch of National Science Week in NSW – note that a requirement would include agreement by the event host to welcome NSW government representatives to formally launch National Science Week as part of their event. Payment of sole contractors, performers and presenters. Production and marketing expenses involved with large events. Eligibility This funding is NOT available to organisations that have already received a 2016 grant from National Science Week or Inspiring Australia. Applicants should consider the following: Applicants suggesting consideration of events as potential National Science Week launch events will would ideally occur prior to 13 August in order to showcase the week ahead. Events that target the wider community and make an effort to attract new audiences will be highly regarded. Budget Applicants must submit a detailed budget as part of the application form. You may charge people to access the event (for example if this involves performances or activities offered as part of offerings that come with museum entry) but if you are successful in receiving funds you will be required to provide some free tickets to VIPs and volunteers. 1 Requirements Grant recipients will be required to: Be part of Sydney Science Festival, provide event details to the Festival organisers in a timely manner, and comply with Festival collaborator requirements. Register their event on the National Science Week website. Acknowledge Inspiring Australia’s funding support and participation in Sydney Science Festival by ensuring logo placement on event collateral. Display National Science Week/Sydney Science Festival signage at the event. Complete budget acquittal forms and feedback surveys. Provide digital images and/or video of activities to help Inspiring Australia showcase successful grant-supported events.
