Identify needs at the level of the clinical sites for
planning and orientation, as evidenced by
content analysis of student evaluations of
clinical instructors.
The survey results for 44 clinical instructors
were evaluated. Results indicated that the
usefulness of small group meetings with clinical
instructors should be reevaluated, and other
options considered.

Student evaluations indicate that orientation

Individual visits to clinical sites, rather than a
group meeting, was conducted this year.
Other Accomplishments:
Students participated in a special collaborative learning project this semester, which involved four sessions of case-based
learning. Students from the first and second year of the program worked in small groups using either discussion or concept
mapping to develop answers to questions related to clinical cases. Student performance on a pre- and posttest of case-based
learning is currently being assessed.

Justification
Strategies for enhancing the applicant pool are needed, in order to maximize
enrollment. Upgrade of materials used for student recruitment, and
communication within the community are needed to present the program in a
professional manner.
For safety, replacement of an older paraffin bath is required due to
malfunction of the thermo-regulator.
As donated and older equipment ages, replacement is needed in order that
students have access to adequate numbers of contemporary items.
Access to current study materials in the classroom and computer lab is needed
for the following topics bariatric safety; amputee rehabilitation; wound care;
motor development; HIPPA, exercise programs.
The FDA has recently approved low-level laser for use in pain management
and tissue healing. It is important for students to be trained in equipment that
they will be using in the clinical setting.
