Secure necessary resources. Articulate all classes with CSUS and UCD. Develop Cultural Resource Management Program. Expand and market the department. Evaluate distance education classes. * Enrollment figures were taken from the 4th week census. The college’s space limitations have resulted in no progress on this objective, although we will continue to pursue it. Need is indicated by the fact that the department offered 23 classes last year to a total of 842 enrolled students. See attached list. All classes have been articulated except Anthro. 44. .2 professional development leave was awarded for research and planning purposes during 2003/2004. One scholarship with an emphasis on Anthropology was awarded in Spring 2003, and the three Honors students who received scholarships with distinction were all Anthropology students. One faculty member attended the Society of California Archaeology annual conference. Two faculty members published articles. One was a book review in an Anthropology journal, and the other was a co-authored book article on Mayan palaces. The online Cultural Anthropology class is offered once a year and had 35 students enrolled* when it was offered in Fall 2002. A hybrid Physical Anthropology class was submitted to the Curriculum Committee in Fall 2003 and will be offered in Fall 2004. The Cultural Anthropology telecourse has been removed from the schedule because the videos are out of date.
