PART D: INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE PRESENTATION OF DOCUMENTATION
(USE OF UNFAIR MEANS ONLY)

Please give submission dates for all relevant pieces of assessed work and indicate
whether they were submitted by the submission deadlines or not.

Please mark up any plagiarised passages clearly in fluorescent highlighter, both
the assessed work AND the accompanying source material. Paraphrased passages
might be highlighted in a different colour. Please DO NOT use yellow
highlighter as this does not show up on photocopies.

If possible, please use paper clips, not staples, when putting documents together.

It is always helpful if any examples of plagiarism which demonstrate a clear intent
to deceive are marked up i.e. where an Americanism has been Anglicised or any
names have been changed to look more convincing.

Where a JISC data analysis is involved, please ensure that the plagiarised material
is evident in BOTH the analysis and the source. It is not enough for the web sites
to be listed: we would need material from the relevant web sites, clearly marked
with highlighter (not yellow). Where text is copied from another student’s work,
that source also needs to be marked up clearly.

Please make sure all photocopied material submitted is of a good quality and
legible as multiple copies will be taken.

Please do not photocopy any material using a reduced text size – this makes it
very difficult for the Committee to review. ALSO do not photocopy any material
back to back as there is a danger that some material may be missed when the
papers are collated for the Committee.

Please include minutes of any meetings held with the student (a pro forma is
available on request).

Where collusion has been alleged/suspected, it would be useful to have a note of
any meetings with that party and copies of any correspondence addressed to
them. An Interview Notes Template is available at
http://www.shef.ac.uk/ssd/sca/discipline
Co-operation with the above will hopefully mean that I do not need to come back to you
with queries about the presentation of the material.
