Four types of programs

Operating system: programs that coordinate computer resources, provide a user interface and run applications.

Utilities( service programs): perform specific tasks to managing computer resources.

Device drivers: allow I/O devices to communicate with the rest of the computer system.

Language translators: convert the programming instruction into a language that computer understand and process.
